ISLANDS OFF IONIA, Samos. Circa 454/3 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22 mm, 13.08 g, 3 h). Facing scalp of a lion. Rev. ΣA Forepart of a bull to right; to left, laurel branch; all within incuse square. Barron 69 (A32/P69). HGC 6, 1189. Traité II 1796 and pl. CL, 18 (same dies). A bold and attractive piece. Very minor deposits, otherwise, very fine.
